The East Bakersfield Community
Collaborative is a broad-based, grassroots, coalition formed in 1992 and
made up of East Bakersfield residents, landlords, business owners,
community-based agency representatives, health service providers,
churches, law-enforcement personnel, school personnel, and
representatives from both the city and county, working together
to make East Bakersfield and its county islands a safe and nurturing
environment for families, children, and businesses.
NOTE: Although we do
serve all residents of East Bakersfield and its County Islands, our
specific focus is geared toward residents that are in blighted
neighborhoods, and low to moderate income families within our boundary
area. Residents outside our area are not turned away. We link them to
the nearest Community Center in their area to ease accessibility and
prevent duplication of services.

Our
activities inspire creativity, leadership, and self-sufficiency. We
don't just provide services, we mentor, coach and learn from each
other. The collaborative offers an opportunity to develop relationships
with neighbors, local politicians, law enforcement, community-based
agencies, school personnel, and businesses. EBCC projects provide
residents and all community members with hope, pride, dignity and an
opportunity to develop a sincere desire to learn more about the process.
PLEASE
REMEMBER: Collaborative means "team work" toward a common end, and
our fundamental end is to empower the disadvantaged through goals and
activities that provide inspiration, valuable information, education,
coaching, and mentoring. -- Brandi De La Garza, East Bakersfield
Resident
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
